Lot 564: E. Thomas & Williams Cambrian Brass Miners Safety Lamp

A Welsh brass miner’s safety lamp of oil-burning type. The lamp features a cylindrical brass upper chimney with circular ventilation apertures near the cowl and base. It is topped with a domed cap secured by rivets and fitted with a heavy brass swivel hanging hook. The central section consists of a clear glass chimney protected by four vertical brass pillars. The lower section comprises a screw-off brass oil reservoir. An oval brass manufacturer’s plaque is riveted to the upper chimney, featuring a crown over lamp device. The plaque is impressed E. THOMAS & WILLIAMS LTD, CAMBRIAN, NO. 82933, and MAKERS ABERDARE WALES. The underside of the oil reservoir has an integrated wick adjustment lever.
