Lot 585: A group of vintage British electronics comprising a Murphy portable valve radio, a Ferguson Flair portable radio and a Ferrograph Ferrotape open-reel recording tape

A collection of mid-century British audio equipment. The Murphy portable valve radio receiver features a black textured rexine-covered cabinet with a dark maroon plastic top and integrated handle. A rectangular black dial window with white and gold-tone accents is marked with the maker name murphy in lowercase script, alongside scales for MEDIUM and LONG wave bands. The front lower right of the cabinet bears a circular logo containing a stylised m formed of three parallel slanted bars. The left control knob is marked OFF and VOL. The Ferguson Flair portable attaché-style radio is housed in a red-maroon base with a cream and tan textured lid. The lid exterior features a Ferguson script badge in gold-tone metal, while the interior lid is marked Flair in gold-coloured script. A horizontal gold-tone bar on the interior control panel bears the maker name F E R G U S O N in raised letters. The central tuning dial is marked for Medium Wave and Long Wave. A 7-inch open-reel magnetic recording tape is contained within a cardboard storage box printed with FERROGRAPH and FERROTAPE. The bottom edge of the box is marked Made in England by The Ferrograph Company Ltd : Mercury House · 195 Knightsbridge · London S.W.7. The tape is wound on a three-spoke metal reel.
