Lot 587: Alan Clarke Studio Timeslip hand-painted Staffordshire earthenware charger

A large Staffordshire earthenware charger of circular form featuring a hand-painted abstract composition titled Timeslip. The design is centred with a vibrant red circular field containing overlapping spheres in orange and textured brown, set against a deep navy blue ground. The composition is intersected by radiating lines in yellow and pale green, with a large section to the left decorated in a mottled crystalline-effect glaze in shades of grey, blue, and green. The base is marked with a printed black circular studio logo above the text alan clarke studio, HAND PAINTED, and STAFFORDSHIRE ENGLAND. A hand-written signature in black pigment reads A J Clarke. A white adhesive paper label is also present on the base, printed with the title TIMESLIP, a descriptive paragraph about the work, and the website address www.alanclarkestudio.co.uk.
