Lot 611: A Brass-Cased Electrical Meter and Three Martins Bank Limited Home Safes

Buyer's Premium:

A brass-cased electrical meter and three mechanical savings banks. The circular analogue panel-mount meter is housed in a heavy brass casing with a rear mounting flange and glass face. The silvered dial features two curved scales, with the upper scale marked VOLTS from 0 to 1.2 and the lower scale marked MILLI-AMPS from 0 to 120. A brass zero-adjustment screw is mounted to the side and a semi-circular brass cover plate is positioned over the needle pivot.

The three home safes were issued by Martins Bank Limited, including one loose unit and two units housed in red textured cardboard presentation boxes. Each oval-form metal safe has a chrome or nickel-plated finish. The top plates are finished in black enamel and brass, featuring a keyed lock and text reading MARTINS BANK LIMITED and NO. 1. The loose unit bears the serial number 15264. The front of each safe is calibrated for SIX PENCE and THREE PENCE coins, with the value indicated in shillings denoted by S. The reverse features slots for SMALL COINS and EXTRA. The base plate is impressed with the instruction USE HOLE IN BASE FOR NOTES.
