Lot 661: A Picquot Ware four-piece tea and coffee service

An English four-piece tea and coffee service manufactured from cast magnesium-aluminium alloy, marketed as Magnailium. The set comprises a teapot, a coffee or hot water pot, a sugar bowl with a lid, and a cream jug. Each piece is designed with a seamless body and features handles and lid finials carved from sycamore wood, which are secured to the bodies by metal pins. The base of the teapot is impressed with a cursive script reading Picquot Ware above the model number T6, with the block lettering MADE IN ENGLAND around the lower rim (photo 4). The base of the sugar bowl bears an identical impressed script reading Picquot Ware alongside the characters CM1 (photo 5).
