Lot 697: A collection of vintage desk and personal accessories including a Dux pencil sharpener

A collection of vintage desk and personal accessories comprising a German Dux brass pencil sharpener, an escargot-style whistle with case, a perpetual desk calendar, a bridge trump indicator, and a folding penknife. The pencil sharpener is constructed from brass with a steel blade and features an adjustment dial; the underside bears an impressed oval mark reading DUX above GERMANY. The metal whistle is stamped BRITISH PATENT and No 447673 to the side and is held on a braided lanyard with a black leather case, the snap fastener of which is stamped NEWEY PATENT. The perpetual desk calendar is formed of two rotating nickel-plated drums with knurled adjustment rings mounted on a flared rectangular base, currently displaying 3 and MARCH 31. The bridge trump indicator is of similar nickel-plated construction with a single rotating drum showing card suit symbols, currently showing a red diamond. The penknife features faux-pearl scales and metal bolsters. Collective weight under 1kg.
