Lot 750: 17 Kilos A Collection of UK Pre-Decimal and pod Coins
A collection of UK pre-decimal copper, brass, and cupro-nickel coinage, together with international currency and a gold-coloured token. The collection includes a large quantity of pennies and halfpennies featuring the profile of Queen Elizabeth II and King George VI. Visible obverse inscriptions include ELIZABETH II DEI GRATIA REGINA F: D: and GEORGIVS VI D: G: BR: OMN: REX F: D: IND: IMP:. Reverse motifs include Britannia and the Golden Hind. A significant group of twelve-sided brass threepences is present, featuring the portcullis and thrift plant designs, with dates including 1942, 1943, and 1966. Silver-coloured denominations comprise sixpences, shillings, florins, half-crowns, and decimal fifty pence pieces, some housed in protective plastic capsules. A small selection of international coinage includes a Danish 25 ORE piece, a US dime inscribed ONE DIME UNITED STATES OF AMERICA, and a coin marked PALESTINE. A single gold-coloured token features a Victorian-style profile head. The collection is contained within a metal tin, a plastic tub, and several cardboard boxes within a green plastic crate.
