Lot 757: An Assortment of Ethnographic and Decorative Items including an African-style Bust and an Arabian Dhow

An assortment of international decorative and ethnographic items. The group includes a tall, slender carved wooden bust with a matte black finish, featuring a high headdress inlaid with a central cowrie shell and a band of red and blue glass beadwork. The figure is further decorated with triangular light wood inlays to the cheeks and base forming star motifs. Also included is a model of a traditional Arabian dhow with a dark wooden hull and polished brass sails, carrying the national flag of Kuwait at the stern. The vessel is mounted on two brass supports atop a rectangular textured metal base. A hardwood mace features a spherical head with conical spikes, the entire surface and upper shaft densely carved with concentric circles, zig-zags, and cross-hatching. The collection is completed by a small decorative dagger or letter opener with a straight, double-edged steel blade and a cast white metal hilt featuring scrolling foliate and geometric motifs with a tiered ball pommel. No maker marks are visible on the items.
