Lot 124: Ken Hayes, Lindisfarne Castle, Contemporary Watercolor and Gouache Landscape 63x53cm

A contemporary landscape painting by Ken Hayes depicting Lindisfarne Castle on Holy Island, Northumberland. The work is executed in watercolor with opaque gouache highlights on textured wove paper. The composition shows the castle situated atop a rocky outcrop, viewed from a coastal path populated by numerous figures in modern walking attire. The style is impressionistic, utilizing loose wet-in-wet washes for the sky and foreground, with more defined brushwork and bodycolour to render the figures and the castle stonework. The work is signed in black ink to the lower right corner, reading Ken Hayes. The painting is presented behind glass within a white wood-effect frame and a wide white card mat.
