Lot 169: A mid-century tri-colour graduated sommerso art glass vase 30cm tall
A mid-20th-century free-blown art glass vase. The vessel is constructed using the sommerso technique, featuring three distinct layers of graduated colour encased in a clear outer layer. The palette transitions from a deep emerald green at the flared and undulating rim, through a teal and aquamarine mid-section, to a cobalt blue base. The form is a sculptural swung-style tulip shape with pulled lobes and a multi-footed pedestal-style base. The glass contains small trapped air bubbles (seeds) and dark carbon inclusions typical of the manufacturing period. The underside of the base is smooth and shows no visible maker’s marks, signatures, or adhesive labels.
