Lot 206: A large late 19th century clear glass chemist bottle for Williamson & Hogg North Shields by Durafort Paris

A large late 19th or early 20th century clear glass chemist’s stock bottle of cylindrical form with rounded shoulders, a short neck, and a flared rim. The bottle is fitted with a tall rectangular-headed ground glass stopper. The body is decorated with an ornate blue transfer-printed label featuring scrolling flourishes and decorative line work. A central banner within the design is printed with the characters WILLIAMSON & HOGG, with the word Chemists in script immediately below. A lower horizontal band is printed with the text NORTH SHIELDS. To the bottom right of the decorative label is a small printed mark reading DURAFORT – PARIS. The vessel is manufactured from heavy-gauge clear glass and features a thick stepped base.
