Lot 209: A Cased Large Scale Model of the Clipper Ship Cutty Sark Built by M Bailey 164x109x31cm

A large scratch-built wooden model of the three-masted tea clipper Cutty Sark, presented in a custom-built timber-framed glass display case. The vessel is constructed with a planked wooden hull, finished in black paint above the waterline and feature-varnished below to show the wood grain. The deck is populated with detailed fittings including four lifeboats on white-painted davits, deck houses, hatches, and a ship’s wheel. It features a full standing and running rigging system with complex rope work, blocks, and stays. A Blue Ensign is flown from the stern. The model is mounted on a wooden stand with a blue velvet-lined base. Centred on the stand is a printed wooden plaque with cursive script reading Cullercoats Watch House, below which is Cutty Sark, and on the bottom line Built by M. Bailey.
