Lot 260: A set of five glass apothecary shop rounds with gilt labels

A set of five clear glass pharmaceutical shop rounds, each of cylindrical form with rounded shoulders and a short neck. The set is complete with five matching square-headed ground glass stoppers. Each bottle features a surface-applied curved gilt label with black hand-painted lettering transcribed as ESS. MENTH. PIP., TINCT. JALAP., TINCT. COLCHICI., TR. QUIN. AMMON., and TINCT. SENNA. Small rectangular paper labels are adhered to the interior base of each bottle, but the characters are not clearly legible. No maker’s marks or glasshouse monograms are visible on the bases or bodies of the glassware.
