Lot 272: A group of antique glass apothecary jars

A group of clear glass pharmacy jars of cylindrical form with rounded shoulders and ground glass necks. Each jar is fitted with a ground glass stopper featuring a flattened, rectangular finial. The jars vary in height. Each jar features an inset rectangular paper label with a gilt and red border, bearing abbreviated pharmacological names in black block lettering. One label reads AMMON: BROMID:, a second reads PULV: NUC: VOMIC, a third reads SULPH: PRÆCIP:, and the final jar is labelled POT: PERMANC:. No maker names or other marks are visible on the jars or stoppers.
