Lot 275: A Set of Four Antique Glass Apothecary Bottles with Under-Glass Labels

A set of four clear glass cylindrical apothecary bottles of graduated sizes, each featuring a ground-glass neck and a matching spherical ball stopper. The bottles are adorned with professional shop-fitting labels featuring black lettering on a white ground with gilt and red borders. Two bottles have shield-shaped labels transcribed as POT: CHLORAS. and BISM: SALICYL:. The other two bottles feature rectangular labels with canted corners transcribed as CALC: LACTAS. and TINCT: QUININÆ. The labels are reverse-painted on glass and fixed to the bottle surfaces. There are no maker marks or labels indicating a manufacturer or origin.
