Lot 279: Large Victorian apothecary glass shop round for Tinctura Cuspariae

A large antique apothecary glass shop round bottle of cylindrical form with rounded shoulders and a short neck terminating in a flared lip. The body is constructed from deeply pigmented dark glass, appearing black in reflective light. Centred on the body is a recessed, curved, hand-painted label featuring a gilded background and dark borders. The label bears black hand-painted lettering reading TR: CUSPAR:. The bottle is fitted with a stopper which is secured by an original parchment or bladder seal, tied with twine at the neck. The glass shows manufacturing seeds and surface rippling consistent with late 19th-century production.
