Lot 314: A Collection of Classical Music Vinyl LPs Including HMV Greensleeve and Decca Ace of Clubs Labels
A collection of approximately twenty-five to thirty classical music vinyl LPs, primarily recorded and manufactured in the UK between the 1960s and 1980s. The assortment features a variety of orchestral, choral, and instrumental works issued on major and budget labels. Visible labels include a red rectangle with “EMI” and the “HIS MASTER’S VOICE” dog and gramophone logo, “DECCA” within an “ACE of CLUBS” playing card device, “RCA CAMDEN”, “CLASSICS FOR PLEASURE”, “HMV Greensleeve”, “CONTOUR”, “ERATO”, and “Galleria” with the Deutsche Grammophon tulip crown.
Notable pressings include Vaughan Williams Symphony No. 5 conducted by Sir Adrian Boult (HMV Greensleeve ESD 7082), Beethoven Symphony No. 7 with the Concertgebouw Orchestra conducted by Erich Kleiber (Decca Ace of Clubs ACL 57), and several recordings by guitarist John Williams including the titles Bridges and Together Again with Julian Bream. The collection also includes choral works by The Tallis Scholars and the Choir of King’s College Cambridge, and orchestral suites by J.S. Bach and Handel. Several jackets bear sponsorship logos including a gold-tone “John Player Sponsorship” crest and “W.D. & H.O. Wills Master Series”. The records are housed in standard cardboard jackets, some featuring lamination or “Digital Recording” flashes.
