Lot 322: A Coronet Midget subminiature Bakelite camera

A British subminiature viewfinder camera constructed from mottled brown marbled Bakelite. The camera features a large optical viewfinder integrated into the top of the body and a winding knob to the side. A sliding metal bar is present, marked SAFETY SLIDE. The front face is fitted with a metal plate embossed with the text CORONET MIDGET 16 M/M FILM MADE BY THE CORONET CAMERA CO. BIRMINGHAM BRITISH PATENTS APPLIED FOR DESIGN REGISTERED. The reverse features a small circular aperture with a red transparent insert and the words OPEN HERE embossed into the Bakelite above a hinged door. The internal film chamber contains a metal take-up spool and a metal pressure plate.
