Lot 340: A Vintage Painted Steel Railway Semaphore Signal Arm

A large-scale vintage railway semaphore signal arm, constructed from a single sheet of heavy-gauge pressed steel with folded edges for reinforcement. The arm features a standard railway livery, with the front face finished in a high-gloss signal red enamel bisected by a vertical cream-coloured band. The mounting end is provided with four circular bolt holes arranged in a square configuration, designed for attachment to a signal post spectacle plate. The reverse side is finished in a cream primer with a central black rectangular band. The construction shows characteristic 20th-century industrial manufacturing, typical of British railway infrastructure. No manufacturer marks or stamps are visible on the surfaces.
