Lot 342: A vintage industrial steel four drawer desktop index filing cabinet

A mid-20th century industrial desktop index filing cabinet constructed from heavy-gauge steel. The unit features four drawers arranged in a two-by-two grid, each fitted with a polished brass-toned cup pull handle that incorporates a rectangular label holder, secured by rounded rivets. The frame includes a single cylindrical barrel lock at the top centre, though no key is present. The cabinet is finished in a naturally aged and distressed grey-green tone. Affixed to the upper right corner of the front frame is a small, rectangular, cream-coloured adhesive label with clipped corners and two faux-rivet details, reading JOSEPH LUCAS LTD above NO. 70063 in handwritten black ink. A further small, dark rectangular indentation or remains of a label are visible to the top left of the drawers. The sides and top of the chest exhibit a mottled, oxidized finish with areas of surface rust and worn paint consistent with industrial use.
