Lot 519: A CP Limoges Paisley Pattern Porcelain Lidded Jar

A French porcelain cylindrical jar featuring a flared pedestal base and a domed inset lid. The body is decorated with an intricate transfer-ware paisley pattern in shades of green and yellow with black outlines. The jar is heavily gilded to the upper rim and the pedestal base, with corresponding gilding to the outer edge of the lid and the spherical finial. The underside of the base bears a printed green mark consisting of a crown above a cartouche containing the characters C P separated by a stylized vase or bottle, with the words FINE PORCELAINE within the cartouche and LIMOGES below.
