Lot 558: A Mamod Live Steam Road Roller with Trailer and a Painted Wood Toy Fort
A Mamod live steam-powered road roller accompanied by a Mamod lumber trailer. The road roller is constructed from pressed steel, cast metal, and brass, featuring a horizontal boiler and a single-acting oscillating steam engine with a fly-wheel. The front of the boiler bears a raised oval metal plate with a black background reading Mamod ENGLAND. The trailer is composed of green-painted cast metal chassis sections mounted on red-spoked wheels, connected by a central metal pole. One green chassis section features a raised mark reading Mamod and MADE IN ENGLAND. Included in the lot is a large vintage model fort of wooden and composite construction, set upon a grass-effect base with a painted blue moat. The fort features a central gateway with a hinged wooden drawbridge operated by metal chains, four square corner towers, and two swivelling metal turrets with guns. The towers and walls are finished with a painted faux-stone effect and crenellated tops.
