Lot 643: A Pewter Thistle Motif Quaich and a Miniature Ceramic Building
This lot comprises two items: a metal quaich and a miniature ceramic building. The quaich, a traditional Scottish two-handled drinking vessel, is fashioned from a grey-toned metal and features two flat, triangular handles (lugs) decorated with embossed thistle motifs. The bowl is further embellished with a decorative band of repeating Celtic knotwork around the body and a four-part thistle design embossed to the interior base. The second item is a hand-modelled ceramic building finished in a bright orange glaze. The structure features three recessed openings representing two windows and a central door. The underside of the ceramic building displays an impressed oval mark containing the word POTTERY running along the left border; the remaining characters in the top and bottom of the border are illegible.
