Lot 647: A Desmo Supermarine S.6B seaplane car mascot

A vintage chrome-plated metal car mascot depicting a Supermarine S.6B seaplane. The seaplane is designed with a streamlined fuselage, low-profile wings, and twin pontoons supported by a series of struts. The mascot is mounted upon a curved support arm which terminates in a flat circular base with a central threaded aperture for radiator cap attachment. The name DESMO is impressed into the metal on the starboard side of the fuselage (photo 1) and again in the underside of the mounting arm (photo 6). The front of the fuselage features a central recess where a propeller would have originally been fitted.
