Lot 666: A Hand Knotted Wool Rug with All Over Mahi Pattern 4ft 9" x 2ft 1"

A hand knotted wool rug of rectangular form. The textile features a dense all over Mahi or Herati design worked in a palette of terracotta red, sage green, and light blue against a dark navy blue field. The central field is decorated with repeating stylized palmettes, rosettes, and curved leaves, enclosed within multiple borders. The primary border has an ivory ground with a continuous scrolling vine and floral motif, flanked by narrower floral guard borders. The rug is finished with ivory cotton fringes at either end. The reverse shows a clear and tight weave consistent with Persian style hand knotting.
