Lot 674: An Antique Dark Stained Oak Barley Twist Plant Stand

A dark-stained oak plant stand featuring an octagonal circular top with a scalloped moulded edge. The structure is supported by four barley-twist spirally turned legs, which are joined by a conforming scalloped lower tier. The stand terminates in four out-swept square-section cabriole feet. The underside of the top reveals a cross-stretchered construction, secured to the apron with large flat-head screws and wooden blocks. The piece is finished in a uniform dark brown stain that highlights the oak wood grain. No maker’s marks, labels, or signatures were found on the item.
