Lot 188: A Novelty Anthropomorphic Squirrel Taxidermy Specimen in Scottish Highland Dress
A novelty taxidermy mount featuring a squirrel, likely a grey squirrel (Sciurus carolinensis), prepared in a bipedal anthropomorphic standing pose. The specimen is outfitted in miniature traditional Scottish Highland attire, comprising a red tartan kilt with a matching sash draped over the left shoulder and a Glengarry-style bonnet. The bonnet is decorated with two red pom-poms. The squirrel is mounted on a circular base finished with artificial green moss and small red berry-like accents. The fur is naturally grey and brown with a pale underside, and the specimen retains its whiskers and claws. The tail is posed in an upright, curved position. No maker’s marks, labels, or signatures are visible on the taxidermy or the display base.
