Lot 395: A Late Victorian Black Moroccan Leather Dispatch Box by H. Mitchell with Bramah Lock
A late 19th-century dispatch box covered in black Moroccan leather, featuring a hinged lid with a recessed brass campaign-style handle. The interior is lined with dark blue leather, the lid decorated with diamond-quilted stitching and fitted with blue document straps. The main body contains a removable tray with various compartments, including a pen holder and a small rectangular lidded box. The brass lock mechanism is secured with two square bolts. A gold-embossed oval adhesive label on the interior rim reads H. MITCHELL 168 OXFORD STREET. The brass lock plate is impressed with the text J BRAMAH 124 PICCADILLY.
