Lot 412: A Pair of Large Moroccan or Indian Style Distressed Gilt Metal and Glass Candle Lanterns

A matching pair of large decorative candle lanterns in the Moroccan style. Each unit features a hexagonal form constructed from metal with a distressed antique gold effect finish over a dark base. The lanterns are designed with a domed openwork gallery top featuring repeating quatrefoil and floral motifs, surmounted by a gadrooned finial and a shaped hanging ring. The main body consists of six clear glass panels set within a metal framework, accented with pierced decorative borders at the top and bottom of the glazed sections. Each lantern is accessed via a single hinged door secured with a metal swing latch. The units stand on circular bases with vertical slat detailing, supported by four cast claw-and-ball feet. The interior base plates are finished in a plain grey metal.
