Lot 417: Vintage Brass Armillary Sphere Equatorial Sundial 40cm tall

A decorative brass armillary sphere sundial featuring a dark patinated finish on the orbital rings. The central horizontal equatorial band is engraved with Roman numerals ranging from X through XII to IX, representing the hours from 10 AM to 9 PM. The numeral scale is further detailed with vertical graduation marks and stylized three-pronged arrow motifs at each hourly interval. A central arrow passing through the axis serves as the gnomon, terminating in a polished brass point and a cast fletching with feather detailing. The sphere is supported by a series of intersecting bands held together by rivets and mounted upon a turned, polished brass pedestal base with a stepped, circular foot. The underside of the base is fitted with a dark green protective felt pad. There are no maker’s marks or signatures visible on the piece.
