Lot 419: A Pair of Cold Painted and Gilded Cast Metal Attributed to Blackmoor Figural Candlesticks 41cm
A pair of figural candlesticks cast in Brass or Bronze metal, depicting male figures in Orientalist attire. Each figure is rendered in a dynamic walking pose with one hand raised and the other clutching a tall, single-socket candlestick designed as a fluted staff with a foliate sconce. They wear highly textured, short-sleeved tunics decorated with an all-over floral scroll pattern and tied with a sash, complemented by elaborate, bow-shaped headdresses. The figures are finished with a black patination to the skin and a gilded effect to the clothing and accessories. Each stands upon an integral naturalistic base, which is mounted onto a secondary black-finished plinth.
