Lot 422: A twin-handled earthenware urn with black transfer-printed foliate decoration 38cm tall

A small twin-handled earthenware urn or amphora-shaped jar. The vessel is constructed from a reddish-brown terracotta body with a globular form, a short waisted neck, and a flared rim. Two stylized lug handles are positioned at the shoulders. The exterior is decorated with an intricate monochrome black-on-white transfer-printed design in a Baroque style, featuring scrolling acanthus leaves, stylized floral motifs, and circular medallions containing dense scrollwork. The background of the print shows a fine stippled or dotted texture. The rim and interior are finished with a thick white glaze. The underside is unglazed, revealing the coarse terracotta core, and has three small black circular adhesive pads applied to the base. There are no maker’s marks, signatures, or factory stamps visible on the piece.
