Lot 426: Large Black Lacquer Footed Offering Vessel with Tiered Finial Lid 58cm tall

A large black lacquer footed offering vessel, comprising a deep bowl, a tiered lid, and a removable finial. The vessel features a heavily gadrooned or ribbed exterior to the body and lid, supported by a short, waisted pedestal stem decorated with a textured woven pattern. The tiered lid rises in concentric steps to meet the finial. The interior of the bowl is finished in a smooth, contrasting cinnabar-red lacquer. Constructed from a lightweight core, likely coiled bamboo or wood, the exterior surface is coated in multiple layers of black lacquer polished to a high sheen. The removable finial is turned with multiple graduated tiers and a slender spire, terminating at the base in a red-lacquered peg designed to slot into the lid. There are no visible maker’s marks, signatures, or labels on any of the components.
