Lot 425: A Pair of Indian Neoclassical Style Cast Iron Campana Urns
A pair of cast iron decorative urns of campana form, manufactured in the late 20th century. Each vessel is sand-cast in multiple sections and bolted together, featuring a blackened finish over the textured metal surface. The design is based on the Roman Warwick Vase, incorporating a gadrooned rim above a central relief band depicting a procession of bacchic figures and satyrs. The urns are flanked by twin bifurcated handles with lion-mask terminals, supported by a fluted socle on a circular spreading foot with foliate decoration. The undersides of the bases show the internal assembly joints and casting texture. A small white adhesive paper label is attached to the underside of one base, printed with the text MADE IN INDIA in red ink.
