A representational watercolour painting on paper by Ron Thornton, depicting a composite view of the coastal town of Amble in Northumberland. The central composition features a concrete pier with a red and white striped lighthouse at the far end, set against a blue sea and cloudy sky. Surrounding this central image are four distinct vignettes executed in monochrome or near-monochrome washes. These peripheral scenes include a view of the harbour with local architecture, breakwaters, and fishing boats. The lower centre of the painted area is hand-signed R.W. THORNTON in black ink. The work is mounted behind a cream and blue double mat and housed in a light oak-finish wooden frame.
