Lot 490: Mettoy Tinplate Emergency Ward 10 General Hospital Playset and Accessories

A vintage lithographed tinplate hospital playset, produced as a tie-in for the British television drama Emergency Ward 10. The building is constructed in a multi-level format with an open-back design for interior play. The lithography features yellow walls with red tiled borders and various department labels including General Hospital, Casualties, Emergency Ward 10, Operating Theatre, Surgical Ward, and Outpatients. A manual lift mechanism is integrated into the side tower, operated by a vertical slide tab. The baseplate is lithographed with a textured stone effect and includes traffic markings reading IN, OUT, KEEP CLEAR, and VISITORS PARKING.

The structure is marked with a printed white name METTOY on the upper red trim of the lift tower.

An assortment of accessories is included, comprising moulded plastic furniture and figures. This collection contains hospital beds in red and white, privacy screens, tables, chairs, washbasins, and an operating table. The plastic figures represent various roles including doctors in masks, nurses, and patients, with one figure depicted using crutches. The set is accompanied by a ribbed clear plastic roof section and a small red fabric fragment.
