Lot 498: A Collection of Silver Plated Tableware and Hollowware including Tea Services and Trays

A mixed collection of silver-toned metal tableware and hollowware. The grouping includes two teapots of compressed globular form, each featuring a black insulated composite or wooden handle and a hinged lid with a black finial. Also present is a hot water jug or coffee pot with a similar handle, a sugar sifter or shaker with a perforated domed top and beaded rim, and a cup holder featuring a pierced repousse style floral and scroll design.

The lot contains several trays, including a large rectangular tray with a gadrooned rim and a circular tray featuring a wide border and an etched foliate and scroll centre. Various bowls and dishes are included, some with footed bases and others with simple turned rims.

Construction is largely silver plated over a base metal, likely copper or nickel silver. A mark is present on the shoulder of the larger teapot (images 1 and 2) but is not clearly legible as a name or specific maker. No British sterling silver hallmarks are visible on the pieces.
