Lot 629: Mid Century Modern Floor Standing Smokeless Ashtray

A mid-century modern floor-standing smokeless ashtray, likely dating from the 1960s or 1970s. The piece features a chrome-plated central column rising from a weighted circular base. The base is finished with a wood-effect laminate surround and a central chrome-plated domed cap. The upper section consists of a deep cylindrical ash reservoir also finished in a wood-effect laminate. The top assembly is fitted with a chrome-plated smokeless mechanism featuring a central plunger with a wood-effect circular insert. When depressed, the spring-loaded plunger lowers a circular trapdoor to allow ash and debris to fall into the reservoir below. There are no visible maker’s marks, signatures, or labels on the exterior or interior components.
