Lot 739: A cast iron longhorn bull wall mount towel rail

A wall-mounted towel rail or harness rack featuring a cast iron longhorn bull’s head. The central head is naturalistically modelled with outward-curving horns and a functional, movable ring passing through the nostrils. The head is set against a decorative backplate with a foliate-textured border and a terminal cluster of grapes at the base. The piece is constructed in two sections, with the head secured to the backplate via three screws on the reverse. The reverse of the backplate is unfinished, showing the rough texture of the casting. There are no visible maker’s marks, stamps, or labels. The mounting is facilitated by three pre-drilled holes, one positioned at each upper side and one at the base within the grape motif.
