Lot 152: A Chinese Chippendale style mahogany jardiniere stand 92x35cm

A mahogany jardiniere stand designed in the Chinese Chippendale style. The square inset top is surrounded by a pierced gallery featuring a trefoil pattern. Below the top, the apron consists of four panels of intricate interlaced geometric fretwork with pierced scrolling corner brackets. The stand is supported on four sets of clustered triple-column legs, which are joined by square blocks carved with a cross above double arches. The structure features two tiers of stretchers; the upper tier has four scroll-carved arms meeting at a central circular recessed ring, while the lower cruciform stretcher features high-relief scrolling fretwork and is topped with a central turned finial. The legs terminate in square block feet.
