Lot 261: W. Taylor, Woman in Robes, Hand Carved Huon Pine, 17cm tall

A hand-carved Huon pine sculpture by W. Taylor, dated 1999. The stylized female figure is depicted in a contemplative pose, wearing a long robe with voluminous sleeves and a gathered headdress. The sculpture features smooth, rounded forms with visible tool marks on the integral base. The piece is mounted to a square-sectioned wooden plinth. The side of the base is incised with the initials WT. The underside of the plinth is incised with the name W.TAYLOR and the date 1999. The words HUON PINE are inscribed by hand on the base. The timber exhibits a fine grain and a warm golden-yellow patina.
