Lot 379: Modernist Figural Cast Metal Sculpture of an Embracing Couple 19cm tall
A modernist figurative sculpture cast in a dark-patinated metal. The piece depicts two stylised figures in a close embrace, their forms merged into a single mass which terminates in an integrated, amorphous base. The work is executed in a mid-20th century style consistent with British Modernist sculpture, featuring a deliberate and consistent coarse-grained texture across all surfaces indicative of a sand-casting technique. The finish is a matte dark brown to black patina. No maker’s marks, signatures, or foundry stamps are visible on any of the surfaces or the underside of the integral base.
