Lot 495: A large Collection of Manuscript Legal Documents and Deeds relating to County Durham.
A collection of historical legal manuscripts and ephemera relating to property transactions and family records in County Durham. The lot includes a large vellum indenture dated 5 June 1804 concerning a conveyance of lands at Middleton-in-Teesdale from Hogarth to Thompson for the sum of £1060, featuring calligraphic headings, blue revenue stamps, and red wax seals with the signature of Mary Hogarth. Also present is a manuscript release dated 4 June 1834 for a messuage at Bell, Middleton, between John Thompson and James Peacock for £250. A paper document dated 9 May 1887 details a conveyance of a freehold dwellinghouse in Hunter Street, West Hartlepool, from Thomas Fryer to James Stephenson. The assortment includes various further folded deeds, manuscripts, and genealogical records including marriage certificates noting professions such as Blacksmith. Items are housed in a cardboard storage box.
