Lot 50G: A Collection of UK George V and George VI One Shilling and Sixpence Coins, 1929-1949 Nett 159g 50% silver
An assortment of UK coinage comprising one shilling and sixpence denominations dating from 1929 to 1949. The collection includes issues from the reigns of King George V and King George VI. The one shilling pieces feature both English and Scottish reverse designs; the English type depicts a lion standing upon a crown, and the Scottish type shows a seated lion holding a sword and shield. Sixpence reverses include the oak leaf and acorn design and crowned royal monograms GRI or GVI R. Obverses display left-facing uncrowned portraits of the monarchs with legends including GEORGIVS V DEI GRA: BRITT: OMN: REX and GEORGIVS VI D: G: BR: OMN: REX. Coins dated prior to 1947 are struck in .500 fine silver, with later issues in cupro-nickel. All examples have milled edges.
