Lot 562: A Collection of Vintage Brass Field Glasses and Acme Whistles

A collection of vintage optical instruments and whistles. The lot includes two pairs of binoculars. The larger pair of field glasses is constructed from brass with extendable sunshades and black textured barrel coverings. A second, smaller pair of opera glasses is made from nickel-plated metal with dark brown textured coverings. The whistle collection features several examples from the manufacturer J. Hudson & Co. A cylindrical nickel-plated Air Raid Precautions whistle is engraved A R P, J. HUDSON & CO, BARR ST. HOCKLEY, BIRMINGHAM (photo 2) and further marked THE ACME WHISTLE ENGLAND (photo 10). Three escargot-style whistles in nickel-plated metal and brass are present, bearing the mark THE ACME THUNDERER and MADE IN ENGLAND (photos 3 and 4). The group also contains a nickel-plated double-barrelled duplex whistle and a marbled grey and cream plastic whistle with a moulded mark reading ACME REGD MADE IN ENGLAND (photo 5).
