Lot 589: A Caroline Harvie studio pottery vase signed and dated 1991

A studio pottery vase of globular form, featuring a wide rounded shoulder tapering sharply to a narrow flat base. The piece is constructed from white ceramic and decorated with a wide frieze on a mottled charcoal-grey ground. This band consists of hand-painted abstract motifs including white bird-like figures with red circular eyes and large red crescent shapes, further detailed with white sgraffito zigzag lines. The decoration is bordered by concentric red and grey lines at the top and bottom. A hand-written signature in white script within the decorative band reads C.HARVIE . 91. The vase is accompanied by a handwritten note on grey paper identifying the artist as a Scottish potter with work in the Aberdeen Art Gallery.
