Lot 606: Two English Two-Tone Salt-Glazed Stoneware Botanical Beverage Bottles for Fentiman and Son and Brownson's
Two English two-tone salt-glazed stoneware botanical beverage bottles. The first is a large flagon featuring a loop handle and a narrow neck fitted with a metal screw-top stopper. The body is finished in a two-tone glaze with a dark tan shoulder over a textured buff-coloured lower portion. The shoulder features black transfer-printed text reading THOS. FENTIMAN & SON / BOTANICAL BREWERS / PERSEVERANCE WORKS, SUFFIELD STREET. / MIDDLESBORO’ / AND GATESHEAD. Further text on the body states This Bottle is the property of / Thomas Fentiman & Son, any / person damaging or illegally / detaining it will be prosecuted / PLEASE INSERT CORK WHEN EMPTY / 1930.
