The artist has used a muted palette of greys, blues, and sandy ochres with loose, gestural brushwork to capture the atmospheric light and cloud formations in the expansive sky. Across the water to the left, a low-lying shoreline is visible with several buildings and a prominent square tower, likely a church or lighthouse. The work is signed in the lower right corner in dark pigment Jules Lassore (photo 5).
