Lot 176: A First World War 1914-15 Star Trio to the Army Ordnance Corps

A First World War British Army campaign medal group awarded to a member of the Army Ordnance Corps. The trio comprises a 1914-15 Star, a British War Medal 1914-20, and a Victory Medal 1914-19. The 1914-15 Star is a four-pointed bronze star topped with a crown, featuring crossed swords and a wreath surrounding a central scroll dated 1914-15. The British War Medal is struck in silver and features the uncrowned profile of King George V on the obverse. The Victory Medal is struck in bronze and features a winged figure of Victory.

The medals are officially named to the reverse of the star and the rims of the circular medals. The impressed naming reads 04205 PTE. C. STIRK. A.O.C. on all three awards. Each medal is suspended from a representative silk ribbon; the 1914-15 Star on a red, white, and blue watered ribbon, the British War Medal on an orange, white, blue, and black ribbon, and the Victory Medal on a double rainbow watered ribbon. The group is currently mounted for display on a common pin bar.
