Lot 201: A Royal Winton ceramic Dr. Nelsons Improved Inhaler and a UGB amber glass poison bottle

An English white-glazed earthenware Royal Winton medical inhaler of bulbous form with a side spout and tapered neck. The body features a black transfer-printed label reading DR. NELSONS IMPROVED INHALER with instructions for use: DIRECTIONS FOR USE REMOVE MOUTHPIECE, HALF FILL INHALER WITH BOILING WATER. DROP REMEDY ON SPONGE OF MOUTH-PIECE, APPLY LIPS TO IT, BREATHE FREELY IN AND OUT AS IN ORDINARY FULL RESPIRATION, WHEN ONLY THE VAPOUR OF HOT WATER OR ANY INFUSION IS DESIRED, REMOVE THE SPONGE FROM MOUTHPIECE. The base bears a printed script mark reading Royal Winton above MADE IN ENGLAND and an incised letter A. Accompanying the inhaler is a cylindrical amber glass apothecary bottle featuring vertical fluting to the lower two-thirds and a rounded shoulder embossed with the word POISON. The base is embossed with the characters 13432, 12 and the letters U G B. The bottle is fitted with a black composite stopper featuring an integrated loop.
